Shimmy and Shred Fest is right around the corner. From November 8-10, 2024, Wichita will host this unique festival that brings together heavy metal, drag, burlesque, and belly dance in a wild celebration of alternative art and performance. Featuring some of the most daring artists from around the country, Shimmy and Shred Fest 2024 will take place at Wave, TempleLive, and Nortons Brewing, making it a must-attend event for anyone looking to experience the vibrant and edgy side of Wichita's art scene. Event Highlights Friday, November 8 – Wave The festival kicks off with a night of high-energy performances featuring drag queen and punk artist May May Graves, alongside DJ A. Blake spinning tracks to get the crowd pumped. Saturday, November 9 – TempleLive Blue Lodge and Auditorium · Blue Lodge Bands: Rock out with Galdrar, Phantom Black, and Panthion, delivering a sonic assault of heavy riffs and powerful vocals. · Auditorium Performances: o May May Graves – Bringing punk-inspired drag with fierce stage presence. o Layna D’Luna – Mesmerizing burlesque performances that combine classic glamour with bold, modern moves. o Koochie-Koochie Ku – Monster drag at its most fierce and fabulous. o Princess Farhana – Burlesque royalty known for her captivating routines. o Kamrah Raqs – Renowned belly dancer pushing the boundaries of traditional styles. o Blind Oath – The night will end on a high note with Blind Oath, finishing off Saturday’s epic performances with a powerful metal set that will leave the audience in awe. Sunday, November 10 – Nortons Brewing Wrap up the weekend with Heavy Metal Karaoke, where festivalgoers can take the stage and unleash their inner rockstar, closing out Shimmy and Shred Fest with fun and community spirit.
